BSRB member unions have recently taken over the operation of their summer houses, whether they be the summer house complex in Munaðarnes or elsewhere. To learn what summer houses are available to you, you must go to your union’s home page and order a summer house there.
BSRB only operates one summer house. Birkihlíð is a two-story summer house located in Munaðarnes, in Borgarfjörður, about 20km outside Borgarnes, close to Bifröst.
The house was renovated for the summer of 2021 and has a spacious patio which reaches around three sides of the house. There’s also a hot tub and a beautiful view over Norðurá. The upper floor has a combined living and dining room, with an opening into the kitchen. The floor also has a large bedroom with a double bed and a small bathroom. The lower floor has a TV corner with a sofa bed and two sleeping rooms with separate beds. There’s also a large bathroom with a washer, drier and shower. You can exit the lower floor onto the patio where the hot tub and a gas grill are located. Eight adults can sleep at Birkihlíð, and there’s a travel bed for children.

In the summer house complex in Munaðarnes there’s a playground for children, a synthetic grass pitch for football, a minigolf course, and many beautiful hiking trails. The Varmaland swimming pool is close by and so is a golf course, and places where you can fish.
